Introduction Late adulthood and retirement Marie-Edith Oyourou From the time humans are conceived to their death they go through different stages of development in this sequence: infancy, early childhood, adolescence, early adulthood and late adulthood. Those different stages of development present characteristics which are particular to each stage. The last decade had seen an increase with people age sixty and above. Consequently, this aging population has significant effects on many aspect of society. Life expectancy which was of 50 years in the 19th century had tremendously increase.
